Capital Projects

 
The Office of Campus Planning & Development is responsible for developing and submitting Hostos’s annual request for capital funding from New York City and New York State officials.  The request is developed in consultation with the President, the Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance, and the Provost.  Implementation and management of funded projects is conducted in conjunction with CUNY’s Office of Facilities Planning, Construction and Management (FPCM) and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
 
 

Current Capital Funding Requests

  • Allied Health and Sciences Building Complex: Funds provided by the Bronx Borough President and New York State are being used to begin the schematic design of this new 170,000 SF facility for the college’s Allied Health and Natural Sciences programs.
  • Flad Architects, an internationally known architectural firm with offices in New York City, was selected to design the new Allied Health and Sciences Building. Flad Architects specializes in the planning and design of innovative facilities for healthcare, higher education, and science and technology clients.
  • Campus-Wide HVAC Upgrades
  • Upgrade of Electrical Services
  • Lighting Upgrades for Energy Savings

 

Funded Capital Projects

  • Allied Health Jobs in the Bronx: Funds provided by CUNY 2020 to purchase and install up-to-date equipment for Radiologic Technology, Nursing, Dental Hygiene, and Occupational Therapy programs. Purchase and installation of equipment for Radiologic Technology, Nursing and Dental Hygiene has been completed.
  • New Media Design Incubator: Funds provided by CUNY 2020 for furniture and equipment to outfit rental space at the Gateway Mall for a new design program to be launched in collaboration with Macaualy Honors College and Lehman College. Installation completed.
  • Savoy Manor Roof Replacement: Funds provided by the Bronx Borough President to replace the existing leaky roof with a green roof. Construction scheduled for Summer/Fall 2016.
  • 500 Grand Concourse Renovation, 4th Floor: Funds provided by New York City and New York State to renovate 17,000 square feet of academic and administrative space; construction scheduled to begin Summer 2016 and completed by Fall 2017.
  • 500 Grand Concourse Window Replacement: Funds provided by New York City and New York State to replace all of the windows in this 1960s building with energy efficient windows.  Installation scheduled to be completed by Summer 2017.
  • 500 Grand Concourse Renovation, 3rd Floor: Funds provided by New York City and New York State to renovate 17,000 square feet of classrooms and academic space; design scheduled to begin January 2017.
  • Allied Health Chiller Replacement: Funds provided by New York City and New York State to replace two outdated chillers in the Allied Health Building. In design. 
  • Administration Building HVAC: Funds provided by New York City and New York State to install a centralized HVAC System. In design.
